Students have an opportunity to participate in sports, band, choir, chess, and many other clubs and activities. However, academics is the number one focus, and test scores show that the students within the school district have an opportunity to achieve. White Hall ranks high in the state for national standards tests and Arkansas benchmark tests. The ACT test scores are above the national average, and the drop-out rate is among the lowest in the state. About 70% of the graduates attend college. White Hall High School Graduates received $600,000 in scholarship funds in each of the last two years.
The extra-curriculum activities are real special. The White Hall Choir Happening is an annual spring tradition. With 125 students, and many parents and teachers, this High School and Jr. High School presentation is truly an entertaining event. Many of the Band and Choir students have earned high honors in the state, and earn college scholarships.
White Hall School sports include Football, Basketball (boys & girls), Baseball, Softball, Track, and Golf. The school also supports sports for elementary age kids by allowing sports associations to rent the school’s facilities. To participate in the school’s sports program, students must meet academic guidelines.
The school district is headed by superintendent Gary Kees. Mr. Kees attended the White Hall schools during his Elementary years. He replaced former superintendent Jerry Lybrand in 1999 after Mr. Lybrand retired after serving 10 years as superintendent, and many years in various capacities within the school district. The atmosphere within the school is such that teachers, custodians, cafeteria workers, secretaries, and administrative staff have enjoyed working at the school for many years. With such consistency in the staff, the school district is able to offer a very stable atmosphere for the students.
